Winds could gust as high as 50 mph. * WHERE...The mountains of Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties. * WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 5 AM PDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Strong winds could cause tree damage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The heaviest snow is expected to be tonight into Thursday morning. A second, and much weaker system will move into the mountains Friday into Friday night generating much lighter accumulations.

* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 6 to 9 feet in Ventura County and 5 to 8 feet in Los Angeles County with dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Ventura County Beaches, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches. * WHEN...From 9 AM Thursday to 3 PM PDT Friday. * IMPACTS...There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore.

Instruction: Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks.
